The City of Wheat Ridge is proposing to develop a pedestrian trail around Tabor Lake. The east and north sides of the lake allow for a proposed 6’ wide soft surface trail. This portion will be accessible for all users and open to both pedestrian and equestrian users.

This project originally started as an idea from the Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation Commission. The city is investing American Rescue Plan funds into this project and has received $410,000 in grant funds from the Jefferson County Open Space Trails Partnership Program and $451,279 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund support for the project.

The design phase for this trail project has been completed and a construction contract has been awarded. Site preparation will occur during spring and summer 2025, but the bulk of the construction will begin in fall 2025 after the seasonal Lee and Baugh ditch is done flowing for the season and the local birds' nesting season is over.
