The City of Wheat Ridge is proposing to develop a pedestrian trail around Tabor Lake. The east and north sides of the lake allow for a proposed 10’ wide concrete trail. This portion will be ADA accessible and open to both pedestrian and bike traffic. A section of trail is also being considered on the west side of the lake which will also be ADA accessible. This portion would be a soft surface trail intended for pedestrian traffic only.
This project originally started as an idea from the Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation Commission. The City is investing American Rescue Plan funds into this project and has received $410,000 in grant funds from the Jefferson County Open Space Trails Partnership Program. The City has also applied for Land and Water Conservation Fund support for the project.
