Let’s Create a City Plan! Wheat Ridge is working on a City Plan, and we want to hear from you. The City Plan, which is often called a comprehensive plan, articulates a community’s vision for the next 20 years, establishes shared values, and identifies priorities for the future. It also provides direction on issues such as what land uses should be where, how people get around, access to housing, and supporting the local economy.

City Plan: A New Comprehensive Plan for Wheat Ridge

Later this year, on August 3, 2024, Lutheran Hospital will move to Clear Creek Crossing at I-70 and W. 40th Avenue. West Pines Behavioral Hospital is planning to move to a larger facility in Westminster in early 2025.

The City of Wheat Ridge is creating a forward-thinking strategy to guide decision-making and investments over the next decade. The plan will help Wheat Ridge build upon existing assets and recent growth to chart a path toward a resilient and economically vibrant future.The plan will explore a variety of economic development and related topics, including:+ Employment and workforce+ Business vitality, retention, attraction, and mix+ Opportunities for creative entrepreneurship+ Land development and redevelopment opportunities+ Growth of city&rsquo;s tax base+ Housing and quality of life+ Community identityMarket informed: A comprehensive analysis of market data and existing conditions will be conducted, with key elements of the market assessment to include:+ Evaluate current market dynamics and economic assets for the key market segments, including competitive positioning in relation to peer cities+ Compare the local market with underlying national post-pandemic trends in demographics, lifestyles, and technology+ High-level evaluation of market opportunities and vision for major commercial areas.Community Informed: To better identify key challenges and opportunities, and to ensure that the plan is informed by a wide cross-section of community members, outreach and stakeholder engagement methods will include focus groups, one-on-one interviews, community events, and an online survey.Implementable: The plan will include a detailed, tactical Implementation section, organized by achievable actions for each strategy, sequenced by short-, mid-, and long-term priorities, and will identify financial and organizational resources. &ldquo;Quick wins&rdquo; will be identified that can be accomplished within the first two years.More information coming soon!!
