Travel Alert: Southbound Wadsworth Boulevard lanes are split around a work zone

The two southbound Wadsworth Boulevard travel lanes are currently split around a work zone from 48th Avenue, which is just south of Interstate 70, to 41st Avenue.

Southbound drivers wanting to turn left onto eastbound 44th Avenue, must pick the left through lane when approaching the traffic split at 48th Avenue. Drivers in the right through lane will have easy access to southbound Wadsworth business driveways and the ability to turn right onto westbound 44th Avenue.

This temporary lane configuration is necessary while the contractor paves the last 11-foot travel lane for 0.7-mile at the north end of the Wadsworth work zone. All turn movements will be possible at the Wadsworth /44th Avenue intersection during this work. However, please follow signs and markings as the southbound travel lanes will be in split lane configuration through the 44th Avenue intersection.

Project Overview

This project includes modernizing and improving Wadsworth from 35th Avenue to I-70 with efficient and safe intersection designs, safer entrances and exits for vehicles accessing businesses, a continuous sidewalk on the west, and a bike/pedestrian path on the east side of Wadsworth from 35th Avenue to the Clear Creek Trail.

The project will construct a new safe and efficient intersection at 44th Avenue called a continuous flow intersection (CFI). The CFI makes the best use of land for maximum traffic flow, while prioritizing safety. A second CFI will be installed at 38th Avenue. The project is expected to be complete in spring 2026.
