Travel Alert

The Wadsworth Boulevard / 38th Avenue intersection is open to traffic in all directions after partial closure for major utility work. Refer to the weekly update below for more information.

Project Overview

This project includes modernizing and improving Wadsworth from 35th Avenue to I-70 with efficient and safe intersection designs, safer entrances and exits for vehicles accessing businesses, a continuous sidewalk on the west, and a bike/pedestrian path on the east side of Wadsworth from 35th Avenue to the Clear Creek Trail.

The project will construct a new safe and efficient intersection at 44th Avenue called a continuous flow intersection (CFI). The CFI makes the best use of land for maximum traffic flow, while prioritizing safety. A second CFI will be installed at 38th Avenue. The project is expected to be complete in spring 2026.

Concrete paving continues near the east side of Wadsworth Boulevard and 38th Avenue. Weather-permitting, 38th Avenue is open with all turn movements possible. 38th Avenue traffic will be in a temporary alignment with a reduced number of lanes to accommodate ongoing construction on 38th Avenue as part of the project.

Some travel delay is expected due to lane closures approaching the intersection. Alternate routes are advised while construction continues for at least the next month on the east side of the intersection.

Crews also continue to work on the retaining wall system along southbound Wadsworth south of I-70. Landscaping and lighting continue throughout the project.

All work is weather-dependent, and construction schedules are subject to change.
