New dates: 35th Avenue closed west of Wadsworth Boulevard (Dec. 16 - 23)
To prepare for underground utility work, crews will work overnight on Sunday, Dec. 15 to restripe Wadsworth Boulevard near 35th Avenue. By making minor adjustments to the traffic pattern in this area, the contractor will be able to work for longer periods during the day instead of shorter hours overnight due to lane closure restrictions.
Underground utility work along southbound Wadsworth and across 35th Avenue requires closing 35th Avenue west of Wadsworth from Monday, Dec. 16 at 7 a.m. to Monday, Dec. 23 at 5 p.m. 35th Avenue will be closed only in the immediate area of southbound Wadsworth. This work was originally planned to occur in early December. An additional multi-day closure of 35th Avenue may be necessary later for asphalt paving. 35th Avenue east of Wadsworth is not impacted by this work.
A signed detour route for local residential traffic only will be provided using 38th Avenue and Allison Street. Wadsworth businesses are open! While 35th Avenue is closed, other access points to businesses and the Edison at Wheat Ridge apartment complex will remain open at adjacent driveways and the signalized intersection at 38th Avenue and Yukon Court.
Also starting on Monday, Dec. 16, southbound Wadsworth Boulevard will be in a new traffic configuration at the north end of the work zone. The two southbound Wadsworth Boulevard travel lanes are currently split around a work zone from the eastbound I-70 off-ramp to 47th Avenue. The new traffic pattern will remove the lane split configuration by bringing the southbound left lane adjacent to the right lane. Please use caution while drivers adjust to the new configuration.
Since construction activities are highly dependent on weather conditions this time of year, this schedule is subject to change. Any schedule changes will be posted on message boards approaching the work area.
