The Wheat Ridge Prosperity Plan was formally adopted by City Council on January 13, 2025. Thank you to everyone who participated in this planning effort!
About the Wheat Ridge Prosperity Plan
The City of Wheat Ridge created a forward-thinking strategy to guide decision-making and investments over the next decade. The plan will help Wheat Ridge build upon existing assets and recent growth to chart a path toward a resilient and economically vibrant future.
The plan explores a variety of economic development and related topics, including:
Employment and workforce
Business vitality, retention, attraction, and mix
Opportunities for creative entrepreneurship
Land development and redevelopment opportunities
Growth of city’s tax base
Housing and quality of life
Community identity
Market informed: A comprehensive analysis of market data and existing conditions was conducted, with key elements of the market assessment including:
Current market dynamics and economic assets for the key market segments, including competitive positioning in relation to peer cities
Local market with underlying national post-pandemic trends in demographics, lifestyles, and technology
High-level evaluation of market opportunities and vision for major commercial areas.
Community Informed: To better identify key challenges and opportunities, and to ensure that the plan is informed by a wide cross-section of community members, outreach and stakeholder engagement methods included focus groups, one-on-one interviews, community events, and an online survey.
Implementable: The plan includes a detailed, tactical Implementation section, organized by achievable actions for each strategy, sequenced by short-, mid-, and long-term priorities, and will identify financial and organizational resources. “Quick wins” are identified that can be accomplished within the first two years.
