On the 8/24/2026 City Council meeting, contracts were awarded to the Farnsworth Group to serve as the lead project design firm and Wember Inc. to serve as the owner's representative firm for the project. Work on the design phase kicked off shortly thereafter and is expected to take at least 10 months. There will be additional public engagement opportunities in the Fall 2026-Winter 2027 timeframe for feedback on the concept options, and later preliminary design options.

The project team (Parks and Recreation staff, the Farnsworth Group, and Wember Inc) kicked off the design phase of the project. The design phase is anticipated to take about 10 months and will include two public engagement rounds.

The project team will be at the Wheat Ridge Trunk or Treat event at the Green at 38th on Saturday, October 24th from 4pm-6pm with a Trunk, candy, project activity, and availability to answer questions about the project. Hope to see you there!

On Wednesday, December 2nd, there will be a project open house from 6pm-7:30pm at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center. Concept options for the project will be available for the public's review and feedback. Attendees can learn more about the project and provide your input on the concept options during the project design phase. 

On Saturday, December 5th from 3pm-6:30pm during the Wheat Ridge Holiday Celebration, the project team will have a table with the project concept options and can answer questions about the project.
